UPDATE REVIEW: ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip Tulle
To read the first impression review, please click here.
In the beauty society, ColourPop lip products are a cult favourite. There's a pretty good reason for it. Not only it is cheap (US$6 a pop, not including shipping), there is also a wide selection of colours and it does not smudge when applied correctly.
After hearing brilliant reviews about it, I had decided to obtain an Ultra Matte Lip product in the colour Tulle and put it to the test. This post will only talk about its lasting power. To read about other properties, please click on the link above.

LASTING POWER EXPERIMENT
Rules:
- Lip product must be used on its own (no lip pencil, lip gloss, lip liner, etc.)
- Lips are to be exfoliated and moisturised properly with a lip balm before applying lip product. (Like, come on, guys. It's not even a choice anymore. You gotta do it.)
- No tricks shall be done to make the lip product last longer than it should be except of blotting with a sheet of tissue (no concealer on lips before application, no powder trick and whatnot.)
- Lip product can only be applied straight from its applicator (no brushes.)
- Lip product shall only be applied once (no layering.)
- Lip product cannot be fixed or reapplied throughout the experiment.
Alright, here we go.
1:48 pm: I exfoliate and moisturise my lips with my Dermal lip balm. After wiping off excess lip balm, I apply the lip liquid straight with its applicator onto my lips and blot the excess with tissue. Here's what it looks like.
2 pm: Damn, it's hot outside.
2.30 pm: I drink a nice glass of iced tea with a straw, completely forgetting that I have lipstick on.
5 pm: Dinner is some sirloin steak, very hot, and an iced cappuccino. Again, I forget that I have lipstick on and I continue to eat like a I haven't eaten in a month. I probably wipe my lips with tissue a couple of times since I'm not a graceful eater.
6 pm: Home and I immediately check for my lipstick. Here's what it looks like.
RESULT
As you can see, the colour on the outside has not budged at all but the inside of my lips have melted off. I'm not surprised with this since lipstick has a hard time sticking to that part of my lips no matter what I do.
I have also used this lipstick a couple of months ago on a date with the boyfriend. I can say that it is kiss proof but you may want to reapply a bit after the date. Also, check your partner's lips. Of course it all depends on your kissing style. Whatever it is I shall not judge.
Over and all I would say that the lasting power of this lip product is definitely above average. It does feel a bit uncomfortable though because it is very matte. Try to restrain yourself from licking it when your lips feel dry because I found this is what causes the colour to fade.
